Total Wellness – Physician Burnout

Zachary Bodenweber is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, Licensed Social Worker, Healthcare Consultant, and Suicide Prevention Trainer. After years of providing clinical behavioral health services in one of New York’s largest community health centers, he has gone on to coach prominent healthcare organizations and trains thousands of medical professionals in proven behavioral health interventions and integrated models of care. Zack has presented at healthcare conferences across the country, including the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU), Society for Social Work Leadership in Healthcare (SSWLHC), and Community Healthcare Association of New York State (CHCANYS). He is Co-Founder and Director of Coaching at Alchemy Total Wellness.

Eric Boesch, CPT
Eric Boesch is a Certified Personal Trainer, Executive Coach, and Business Consultant. He has spent his career managing high-performing teams, advising business leaders, and building positive workplace cultures in the financial and wellness sectors. As a fitness professional, Eric specializes in personal training for optimal performance, whether it be in the exam room or the courtroom. His roster of clients includes lawyers, physicians, executives, and athletes from across the country. He is Co-Founder and Director of Corporate Wellness at Alchemy Total Wellness.

Activity Overview:
Physicians are at a heightened risk of burnout, experiencing critical levels of unmanaged occupational stress that have been shown to impair both professional performance and personal health. Leading healthcare organizations have even declared physician burnout a public health crisis. The Total Wellness Masterclass provides physicians with the skills, strategies, and resources to mitigate burnout through enhancing self-care and bolstering overall wellness. Through facilitating the implementation of these proven lifestyle interventions, this course aims to improve physician health and wellness, thereby promoting increased professional competency, performance, and satisfaction.

Learning Objectives:
After completing this activity, the learner will be able to:
Recognize the signs of burnout, its prevalence among physicians, and its negative impacts on both personal health and professional performance.
Identify the predominant personal/professional stressors and maladaptive cognitive-behavioral patterns that impede self-care and wellness.
Explain the environmental, cognitive, and physiological factors and processes involved in primary wellness domains, such as sleep, nutrition, physical fitness, hydration, stress reduction, and productivity.
・Apply evidence-based strategies and lifestyle interventions for mitigating burnout, enhancing self-care, and improving wellness despite the presence of occupational stressors and demands.
