Who We Are

Continuing Medical Education Mission

Introduction

Ala Carte CME is an independent provider of continuing medical education for physicians, specialists, and clinicians who are part of the healthcare team.

The Mission of the Ala Carte’s CME Program is to assist practicing physicians in the translation, dissemination and application of evidence-based knowledge to improve patient safety and enhance overall clinical outcomes. Ala Carte CME’s primary goal is to support physicians in providing the best possible care for their patients.

Education planned by Ala Carte CME is based on research conducted through needs assessments that identify professional practice gaps of intended learners, and areas for professional practice improvement in the field of medicine, which have been identified by the Ala Carte CME leadership, course directors and professional staff.

All Ala Carte CME activities are designed to measure changes/improvements in professional competence, supporting improvement in performance. Ala Carte CME is committed to the provision of the highest-quality CME activities to help physicians working to improve patient outcomes.

Working in conjunction with its progressive web-based platform, many activities are offered in an enduring format that are Internet-based.

Expected Results of the Mission

The expected results of Ala Carte’s CME Program include the following:

  • Provide physicians with educational interventions that improve their clinical evidence-based knowledge of current and emerging developments in health care to patients.
  • Provide clinical strategies supporting translation of evidence-based knowledge into physician practice changes and improvements in care.
  • Support improvement in physicians’ professional development and leadership skills.
  • Improve physicians’ ability to manage risk and associated comorbidities with new competencies and practices.

Ala Carte CME utilizes an educational outcome measurement (EOM) tool to assess the expected results of its CME Program, currently including commitment-to-change questions to determine improvements or changes in the ability to apply knowledge learned to practice strategies. The analysis of EOM results is used to determine the effectiveness of its CME Program and to identify changes required to fully meet its CME Mission.
